Library of Sv. Ivan Pavao II.
In the Education and Rehabilitation Center of St. Josip Radnik in Potpolje today the “Library of John Paul II” was opened and blessed, to which Fr. Goran Azinović donated his collection of books.
At the appropriate ceremony, the joint prayer of those gathered in the library was led by Fr. Nikola Rosančić, pastor of the parish of St. Blaža Gradnići, and after the opening prayer, Fr. Goran Azinović greeted those present, who also blessed the newly opened library.
Brother Goran said on this occasion that he always brought books from all his travels and that he had collected a large number of books over the years.
I often wondered why I do it, but now it makes sense. I donate books to the institution of St. Josip Radnik, where the educational-rehabilitation center and the Susret Association are together. Now you also have the possibility here, if someone gives you a book, that you can place it and that this fund of books, which is already there, can be further expanded. We named the library John Paul II, I love him the most, and he really loved the book. It is said that he was a mystic, a supplicant, a traveler, an artist… but in a special way he wrote a lot and loved books. For those who will come here, let the books be a help in spiritual ascension – said Fr. Goran Azinović and added that the library opened today could one day be merged with the City Library, with thanks to everyone who participated in the realization of the project.
The opening of the library was attended by Marin Radišić, Mayor of Čitluk Municipality, Predrag Smoljan, President of the Čitluk Municipal Council and Ivo Bevanda, Secretary of the Čitluk Municipal Council, along with other guests. Addressing the crowd, Mayor Radišić welcomed the realization of the project.
We have a beautiful educational and rehabilitation center that is now even more beautiful and enriched with these books. I did not know that Fr. Goran collected books wherever he was and struggled to bring them, a big thank you to him. Many thanks to him for what he gave here as a priest, and recently he said that he will never forget Čitluk and that he will always be happy to return to Čitluk. I believe that when he has the opportunity, he will come to this center, and I believe that we will quickly finish the building of the Cultural and Information Center, where we will have a large library. Thanks to Brother Goran for the donated books. I thank him for everything he did in the parish of Krista Kralja Čitluk – said the mayor of the municipality of Čitluk, Marin Radišić.
Matea Brekalo, Acting Director, thanked Brother Goran for the donated books, as well as everyone who helped equip the library. the director of the Educational Rehabilitation Center of St. Josip Radnik.
Thank you, Fr. Goran. What you love, a part of yourself, you left to us. It means a lot to us. Thank you to everyone who participated in the realization of the project: the Raguž family, my therapists who cleaned after work and put things together, Ivona who was a great help to us. In a special way, I would like to thank Ivan on behalf of the Fr. Mladen Hrkać Association, who gave us valuable works of art, and everyone else who participated in furnishing the space. This gives us a reason to be even more open to others – said Matea Brekalo.
On behalf of the members of the Meeting Association, Iva Pehar thanked Fr. Goran for the donated books.
Finally, let us say that the “Library of Ivan Paul II” will have the same working hours as the JU education-rehabilitation center of St. Josip Radnik. Those interested will be able to take the book for reading, which will be recorded in the library along with the reader’s identity card number and mobile phone number, and after reading it can be returned to the library free of charge.
