Sensory park opened in the Education and Rehabilitation Center “Sveti Josip Radnik”

To the joy and satisfaction of all members of the Susret Association, all service users and employees of the “St. Joseph the Radnik” Education and Rehabilitation Center, and all supporters and friends of the aforementioned association and institution, a sensory park was opened today in Potpolje. The sensory park was built thanks to the joint work and joint efforts of the Association Susret and the Education and Rehabilitation Center “Sveti Josip Radnik”.

The services of the “Sveti Josip Radnik” educational-rehabilitation center as a day center for the rehabilitation and education of children with developmental disabilities, which is equipped with cabinets for individual and group activities, are used by 72 children. Users of the center’s services, accompanied by their parents, hosted numerous government representatives from all levels, businessmen, benefactors and other guests from all spheres of social life at today’s ceremony.

Ivo Bevanda, president of the Board of Directors of the Educational and Rehabilitation Center “Sveti Josip Radnik” and vice-president of the Association Susret, welcomed all those present, who, along with words of greeting and thanks, also referred to the entire project of building a sensory park, the construction of which was initiated by the Association Susret.

– This project is characterized by the partnership and unbreakable bond between the Association and the Center. However, de facto – that is, factually, in this project from idea to realization, we have a third partner present, in my opinion the most important. That third partner is exactly you, dear friends. The third partner is our businessmen, associations and the non-governmental sector, our priests, representatives of all levels of government and numerous citizens-individuals, whether they are donors or volunteers – said Bevanda and added that, in addition to collecting donations, they also contributed to the successful realization of the project. activities in the territory of the municipality of Čitluk in which the Susret Association took part and pointed out that it is about Blatnič notes of goodness, Days of grape harvesting, basketball tournament “Monte Zott”, memorial basketball tournament “Tomo Krasić” and a series of successful collaborations with different associations.

Thanks to all the businessmen who, in these turbulent times, in which the main goal is certainly the preservation of every job and maintaining the stability of the company, provided great help to the construction of the sensory park. I would like to thank the government representatives. First of all, our local ones led by our mayor, Mr. Marin Radišić, and the president of the Čitluk Municipal Council, Mr. Predrag Smoljan. I would be selfish if I didn’t mention that they are part of us. Not a single request was rejected by the Municipality, not a single idea of ours was ignored or rejected. I would also like to thank the representatives of the county and federal authorities, from the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, the Assembly of HNŽ and the Government of HNŽ. I must point out that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Welfare, HNŽ, is the biggest donor to the construction of our park. When I talk about the House of Peoples, I emphasize the passing of the law that made it possible to regulate the position of parents – caregivers, and it was thanks to Mr. Tomislav Martinović that we had the opportunity to have our voice heard and to act on the law while it was in the draft stage. The county’s activities have made it possible for a professional body to assess, monitor and refer children within our Center. This professional body has four employees, and with the help of the County, their working status and financing was resolved. I would like to thank all the citizens’ associations with which we had the opportunity to cooperate and thereby influence the improvement of our status as parents, and especially of our children. In the end, I would like to thank the individuals, ordinary dear people who, upon hearing about our action, contacted themselves and gave their contribution – concluded Ivo Bevanda.

The sensory park became part of the educational and rehabilitation center in Potpolje, whose acting director Director Matea Brekalo also thanked all the participants in the realization of the project. Brekalo reminded those present about the construction and equipping of the center and pointed out a number of interesting things related to the work of the institution.

– After the equipped cabinets, we received young ambitious people who, after their studies, underwent additional education that helped them in their work with children today. For my entire professional team, I can say that they do their job, that is, the call to work with children, with heart and a lot of love, and at the same time they have a huge degree of professionalism… I can freely say that this institution is a very valuable and positive project that was realized in our municipality, in order to provide the children with all the necessary help in rehabilitation, and to make everyday life easier for their parents and families with the proximity of our institution and the opportunity to have everything they need in one place. Also, the doors of our institution are open to all children in need from any municipality. I want to point out that until now we have achieved cooperation with surrounding institutions and institutions, all with the aim of quality and successful work and achieving goals for each of our children – said Mateo Brekalo.
